Introduction to DDAN

Dedicated to uplifting Dalit people with disabilities through social, cultural, and economic advocacy in Nepal.

WHO WE ARE

A non-governmental, non-profit community based organization.

Dalit with Disabilities Association Nepal (DDAN) is a community-based organization running by and for the Dalit people with disabilities. Our core mission is to empower individuals through providing access to resources, opportunities for social upliftment, and protecting fundamental rights.

Promote and secured rights of Persons with disabilities within the territory of Nepal.

Make participation and easy approach of Persons with disabilities for policy formulation and implementation.

Governance & Internal Control System

1. The General Assembly

DDAN has its own General Assembly as the apex body of the organization. It elects the Executive Committee for a period of three years from among its general members who are eligible to compete and have voting rights. The Executive Committee (EC) makes policies and takes major decisions which are approved by the General Assembly during the annual meeting.

2. Executive Committee (EC)

The EC continuously monitors and evaluates the program and the budget of programs run by the organization. The chairperson of the organization is entrusted by the Executive Committee to look after the overall monitoring and decision making of the organization when there is no meeting of the executive committee. The decisions taken by the Chairperson are discussed and approved by the next meeting of the Executive Committee. The Chairperson also acts as a link person with the local as well as national level partner or donor organizations.

3. Management & Advisory Structure

The chairperson also represents organization in various coordination meetings, wherever the participation of the Chairperson is mandatory. The organization also has internal policies and regulation to run the organization and maintain the law and order within the organization which at management level is executed by the Executive Director (ED).

The ED of the organization is more responsible for the management of overall programs owned by the organization. Similarly, DDAN has a couple of expert Advisors to provide technical guidance and support to the organization. Mr. Padam Pariyar, Founding Chairperson and other thematic advisors are providing technical guidance.
